Why Dancers Thrive When They Take Multiple Classes a Week

ree

At North Georgia School of Ballet, we love seeing our dancers grow—not just as movers, but as confident, disciplined, and creative people. One of the best ways for students to deepen their skills and truly thrive is by taking more than one dance class each week. Whether your child dreams of becoming a professional dancer or simply loves to move, here are some of the biggest benefits of dancing multiple times a week:

1. Faster Skill Progression

Consistency is key in dance. Attending multiple classes each week gives dancers more time to refine their technique, retain corrections, and build muscle memory. Instead of relearning steps after a long break, they’re able to build on what they learned in the previous class. The result? Faster improvement and stronger confidence in their abilities. Dance class becomes even more fun when you have greater skills and confidence!

2. Developing Discipline and Focus

Commitment to multiple classes each week teaches responsibility, time management, and perseverance. These are life skills that extend far beyond the dance studio and set students up for success in school, sports, and future endeavors.

3. More Costumes and Performance Opportunities

With each class learning a new and separate dance for our performances, taking multiple classes will allow for more costumes, more performance roles, and more time on stage during shows! What a wonderful opportunity to experience MORE of the best part of the year - the performance! As a culmination of the entire season, the performance is a fantastic learning experience as well as so much fun! Plus, everybody loves having multiple beautiful costumes!!

4. Exploring Different Styles

Taking more than one class a week allows students to experience different dance styles. A dancer might discover that jazz helps their ballet jumps feel more dynamic, or that modern gives them freedom of expression they can bring back into tap. Cross-training in multiple genres builds versatility, adaptability, and artistry.

5. Building Strength and Stamina

Dance is as physical as it is artistic. The more frequently students train, the more endurance, flexibility, and strength they develop. Multiple classes per week help build stamina that allows dancers to move with more control and perform with greater ease.

6. Building Friendships and Community

When dancers spend more time in the studio, they naturally form deeper connections with their peers and teachers. Dance becomes not only a class, but a community where friendships flourish and students feel supported in their journey.

7. Joy and Stress Relief

Most importantly—more dance means more joy! Dance is a healthy outlet for self-expression and stress relief. Students often leave class energized, motivated, and happy. With multiple classes, they get to experience that feeling again and again throughout the week.

Ready to take the next step? Ask us about adding another class to your dancer’s schedule this season! Whether it’s trying a new style or doubling up on a favorite, we’d love to help your dancer reach their full potential.
